Brother Steven King, Jr. (Life Member #11818) was initiated into Alpha Phi Alpha in 1993 through the Gamma Nu Chapter, with his Brothers (#2 out of 4), seated at Penn State University.
Brother King was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, the oldest of seven children, by his stay-at-home Mother and his hard-working Father of at least 3 jobs to support their Family. He earned a B.S. in Marketing from Penn State University, and an Executive MBA in Strategic Marketing from the University of Connecticut. After graduation from Penn State, Brother King was a Merchandise Manager for the JCPenney Company in multiple states from Martinsburg, West Virginia, to Canandaigua, New York, and Enfield, Connecticut, with department responsibilities of over $5MM annually. He is currently employed as Director, Sales and Business Development at OtherDesigns in South Windsor, Connecticut.

In 2006, Brother King, founded the Beta Sigma Lambda Educational Foundation’s, “Step Into Wellness & Health Expo: Hartford Step Off Classic.” In 2016, Brother King was brought on to be the Executive Director of the Foundation.
Brother King, is married to Carolyn (Cam) King, and they are blessed with two children, Sofia May (15 years old) and Roman Marcellus (10 years old). They currently reside in South Windsor, CT. Brother King and his wife are both members of Crossroads Community Cathedral, in East Hartford, Connecticut, where he serves on the Worship Team and she in the Nursery Ministry.
Brother Steven King, Jr., has been the Director of Sales & Business Development for OtherDesigns, since 2018; working with small and large businesses to help them with all of their printing needs. Prior to that opportunity, he was a Program & Case Manager with My People Clinical Services for 5 years, and was responsible for the operational, public purchasing, financial, logistics and administrative operations of this human services supportive housing program – designed to meet the needs of young men ages 18-21, who were recently incarcerated, in partnership with the Department of Children and Families of CT.
Prior to that opportunity, Brother King was a Senior Associate & Technology Corporate Recruiter with Hobson Associates. He created their Legal Technology Practice, where he worked internationally with corporate clients building out their sales teams from the position of individual contributor to the C-level. He achieved over $1 million in personal corporate billings and as a multiple award winner for the Company, he still holds the highest paid retainer in the Company’s history at $100k.
In addition to his work history, and his leadership in Alpha Phi Alpha, Brother King is a Committee member of the South Windsor Democratic Town Council. He’s also a 10-year vocalist of a Motown Revue group, “Soul Sound Revue.” Brother King also continues to serve at Crossroads Community Cathedral, where he has been a member of the Church’s worship team for over 7 years.
